Some people in Russia lack the power of batteries to keep warm in the cold weather that reigns over much of the country right now. Therefore, additional heaters are purchased. They are turned on and left to work overnight, which, it turns out, should never be done. As scientists have found out, a working heater can provoke nightmares.
When a person sleeps, he produces the hormone melatonin, which ensures sleep. To do this, the room must be dark and cool. When the heater is running, the room becomes too warm and stuffy, which provokes the production of the hormone cortisol. And it can give you nightmares.
In addition, when sleeping in a room that is too warm, metabolism worsens. When people sleep in a cool place, their metabolism speeds up and excess weight gain decreases. At the same time, the amount of “bad” cholesterol in the blood decreases.
As a result, the optimal temperature for sleep is 18-21 degrees. In order not to catch a cold, there should be no draft in the room.
Earlier, specialists from the Healthy Eating project of Rospotrebnadzor spoke about the benefits of healthy sleep.
