Elimination of noise pollution, compensatory planting of trees and shrubs, measures to preserve the fish population in water bodies, installation of treatment facilities and outreach – these areas of activity subordinated to Rosavtodor institutions (FKU) invariably pay great attention. And the past road construction season was no exception.
Thus, the employees of FKU Uprdor “Southern Baikal” held a traditional action “Forest Days”. Its goal is consonant with the main task of the national project “Ecology” – to increase the country’s green fund.
In total, in 2022, more than 23 thousand pine seedlings were planted on the territory of the Zaudinsky forestry enterprise in the Republic of Buryatia. Landings were carried out on the sites of last year’s fires, which will subsequently lead to the restoration of burned forests.
“Every year we pay close attention to the preservation and enhancement of the region’s ecosystem and environmental protection. We carry out environmental protection, compensation and reforestation activities aimed at improving the environmental well-being of the country. Of course, the forest must be protected in order to preserve it for our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,” said the head of the subordinate state institution Bulat Dugarov.
Also, federal road builders carry out compensatory planting of trees and shrubs as part of projects for the construction, reconstruction, repair and overhaul of roads and artificial structures. In particular, about 14,000 seedlings of Scotch pine were planted on an area of 3.4 hectares on the territory of the Talitsky district forestry in the Sverdlovsk region.
Similar events were held in the Altai Territory by order of FKU Uprdor “Altai”. Planting of about 9.5 thousand seedlings of Scots pine with a closed root system (the height of each is at least 12 cm) was carried out on 3.8 hectares in Ozero-Kuznetsovsky forestry. Reforestation was carried out during the overhaul of a section of the R-256 Chuisky Trakt highway (km 143 – km 150).
In addition, the employees of this FKU carried out such environmental activities as the release of fish fry into large reservoirs of the region. For example, more than 650 carp juveniles were released into the water bodies of the Upper Ob basin (30 km from Barnaul) (with an average piece weight of at least 20 g). Similar work on the artificial reproduction of bioresources was carried out as part of the overhaul of the bridge across the river. Big River on the 287th route R-256 “Chuysky Trakt”.
In turn, in May 2022, the specialists of the FKU DSD “Far East” released about 19 thousand chum salmon fry into the river. Barabashevka Khasansky district of Primorsky Krai. This program was approved by the local territorial administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries. The activities were carried out during the construction and reconstruction of a section of the A-370 “Ussuri” highway Khabarovsk – Vladivostok (km 687 – km 703). At the same time, as part of the environmental support of the project to repair the bridge across the river. Erzovka, which is located on the 667th km of the R-228 Syzran – Saratov – Volgograd highway, federal road workers released more than 17 thousand sterlet fry into the Volgograd reservoir.
Another important measure to preserve nature and improve the ecological situation is the installation of local treatment facilities and the arrangement of modern organized drainage systems.
Thus, during the repair of the bridge over the erik Bezymyanny-2, located on the federal highway R-215 Astrakhan – Kochubey – Kizlyar – Makhachkala in the Narimanov district of the Astrakhan region, a drainage system was built.
Specialists of FKU Uprdor “Kaspiy” performed work on the installation of trusses, as well as interface elements with an embankment, installed nine and repaired 24 beams of a superstructure 15 m long, as well as new cabinet walls with openings. Also, during the repair, a drainage system was arranged from the roadway using local treatment facilities. Recall that hanging trays are used on small, medium and large artificial structures to collect water and direct the flow of water to filtration systems. They are attached directly under the bridge structure.
In general, local treatment facilities solve two key tasks: the treatment of wastewater from suspended solids and oil pollution, as well as the treatment of surface storm runoff from the roadbed and bridge structures.
The most polluted part of wastewater from the road surface includes rainwater and meltwater. These waters account for up to 70% of the annual runoff. The cleaning system used in artificial structures is considered absolutely safe for the environment. The wastewater that passes through it is released into natural reservoirs.
Similar environmental events were also held on the federal highways of Transbaikalia in 2022. At all repaired artificial structures, the simplest treatment systems were installed – reinforced concrete wells filled with filter material. In particular, during the overhaul of bridges across the river. Budunguy (km 60) and Ungur (km 57) of the federal highway A-350 Chita – Zabaikalsk – border with China, experts from FKU Uprdor “Zabaikalye” arranged filter wells using a sorbent that purifies wastewater from heavy metals, organic and inorganic compounds, oil products . And during the repair of the bridge over the river. Doronnik on the 953rd km of the R-258 Baikal highway used another filter material – charcoal.
In addition, at all facilities, work was carried out on the reclamation of temporarily occupied lands with the restoration of the soil and vegetation layer and the sowing of perennial grasses. Also, contractors made compensation payments related to environmental pollution and damage to aquatic biological resources.
Last year, FKU Uprdor Moscow-Volgograd arranged 33 water treatment facilities. For example, in the Tambov region, such systems were installed at the overhaul sections from the 12th to the 35th km of the A-298 highway, the R-208 highway Tambov – Penza – Saratov – Pristannoye – Ershov – Ozinki – the border with the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In the Ryazan Region, a section of the overhaul of the R-132 Golden Ring road (km 578 – km 584) was supplied with treatment facilities, and in the Rostov Region – a section of the A-260 highway (km 370 – km 379).
In addition, experts arranged filter cartridges and graphite sorbents for wastewater treatment on the bridge across the river. Khoper on the 615th km of the R-22 “Kaspiy” highway in the Voronezh region.
Road builders paid much attention to the fight against acoustic pollution. One example is the section km 1042 – km 1050 of the R-258 road within the boundaries of the village. Lesnoy Gorodok, where noise barriers were installed next to the school.
“Protection of the ecosystems of natural objects is one of the most important tasks that we solve when we start repairing federal highways and bridge structures on them. Both at the stage of project development and in the process of their implementation, we involve specialized specialists in order to ensure that environmental support of road works is as effective as possible,” summed up Sergey Senibabnov, Deputy Head of FKU Uprdor Moscow-Volgograd, Chief Technologist.
