In 2022, the total sown area in the Ryazan region increased by 5% – by 54.9 thousand hectares and reached 1117.9 thousand hectares. This is the highest figure in the last 24 years. The growth in the area under crops is due, among other things, to the return to circulation of previously abandoned agricultural land. Over the past 8 years, the area of abandoned arable land has decreased by more than 2 times, and the share of used arable land has exceeded 85%. In 2022, according to preliminary data, more than 20 thousand hectares of previously abandoned land will be returned to circulation. In 2022, record harvests of grain and oilseeds were obtained in the Ryazan region, and growth was achieved in the production of livestock products: milk, meat, eggs.
