According to Rosstat, in the Republic of Dagestan there are 476 thousand heads of cows in all categories of farms, which is the first indicator in the context of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The region produced 935 thousand tons of milk last year, which is the seventh place in the country. At the same time, less than 15% of the milk produced in Dagestan goes for processing, and the productivity of the dairy herd remains low. In this regard, the leadership of Dagestan for the current year has identified the development of dairy cattle breeding as an important priority.
