Dagestan is a leader in the number of small cattle

As the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov said, the number of sheep and goats in Dagestan at the beginning of 2022 amounted to 4 million 652 thousand heads. This is 22.5% of the total livestock in the Russian Federation and the first place in the country in terms of subjects. For example, in 1990, Dagestan ranked 4th in Russia in terms of the number of sheep, and the share of the republic accounted for only 5.8% of the Russian sheep head. To date, only two regions in Russia have exceeded the number of sheep relative to the 1990 level.
