The farmers of the region are actively preparing for the upcoming spring field work, accumulating the necessary material and technical resources for sowing and related work. Thus, the region is checking and preparing seed material for spring sowing, the repair campaign of agricultural machinery continues, and Stavropol farmers are also actively purchasing mineral fertilizers, in accordance with the plan approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
– The Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory, together with the departments of agriculture of urban and municipal districts, has worked out the issue of the need for mineral fertilizers. Based on the monitoring results, a plan was drawn up for the purchase of mineral fertilizers by agricultural producers in the first half of this year. The need for them for spring field work is about 337 thousand tons in physical weight, – said Elena Tambovtseva, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
Carrying out early spring nitrogen fertilization is predicted on an area of 1558.8 thousand hectares, foliar fertilizing to improve the quality of grain on an area of 404.8 thousand hectares. Industrial crops are responsive to mineral fertilizers, so in 2023 it is planned to apply on an area of 310.4 thousand hectares, for fodder crops on 18.1 thousand hectares, and for fallow crops in 2024 on 9.5 thousand hectares. Potatoes, vegetables, melons require an annual mandatory application of mineral fertilizers throughout the entire area.
