In the coming days, Irkutsk Region will experience frosts of up to 58 degrees, Yakutia – up to 63 degrees, Krasnoyarsk Territory – up to 55 degrees. Abnormally cold weather is also predicted in the Orenburg, Penza, and Saratov regions, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told TASS.
“Severe frosts will persist in Yakutia for the next five days, and in the Irkutsk region, the northern regions, the temperature will drop to 58 degrees on January 12-14. The temperature is nine degrees below normal and more is predicted in the Orenburg, Penza, Saratov regions in the next two days,” he said.
According to the Hydrometeorological Center, in some areas of Yakutia the temperature will drop to 58-63 degrees below zero on January 13 and 14. In the Orenburg and Penza regions, up to 26-30 degrees of frost is predicted in the coming days, and in Saratov – up to 22 degrees of frost. In some areas of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, frosts up to 52-55 degrees are expected on January 12-14.
On Wednesday, the thermometers dropped to 60 degrees below zero in the Yakut village of Oymyakon. The day before, similar figures were recorded in the Oleneksky district of Yakutia.
