Specialists of the Arzgir district department of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Rosselkhozcenter” in the Stavropol Territory conducted surveys of the winter wedge to assess its condition. During the monitoring of winter crops, it was revealed that out of 109.2 thousand hectares sown in the area, seedlings appeared on 99% of the area.
Winter crops must be constantly checked, their condition taken into account in order to develop measures for protection, improvement and care. Conduct autumn and spring inspections, as well as winter control.
Autumn survey carried out after the cessation of vegetation of plants before the onset of winter. At the same time, the following indicators are taken into account: development phase, height, number of living and dead plants per 1 sq. m, bushiness, depth of the tillering node, condition of secondary roots, degree of infestation, damage from weather factors and pests, disease damage.
Winter control: the condition of winter crops is assessed annually at the scheduled time, as well as after each severe cold snap. Plant samples are taken from the field to be analyzed for viability.
Assessment of winter crops in early spring: according to the results of the spring control of winter crops, taking into account their condition, a decision is made for each field. The survey is carried out before harrowing after the resumption of vegetation.
The main purpose of a crop survey is to timely determine the need for corrective actions.
Practice shows that obtaining high stable crop yields largely depends on timely and high-quality diagnostics of the state of crops during the growing season.
In the Arzgir region, there is still no snow cover on the fields of winter crops. On the whole, the condition of winter crops is assessed as good and satisfactory, since the seedlings of plants are in varying degrees of development, depending on the timing of sowing and the amount of precipitation that fell before sowing.
