Almost 200,000 people visited the Hermitage and the Tretyakov Gallery during the New Year holidays, Interfax writes, citing Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova.
In total, more than 1 million people visited state museums during this period. In addition to the Hermitage and the Tretyakov Gallery, Tsarskoye Selo (about 80 thousand visitors), the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve (about 70 thousand) and the Pavlovsk Museum-Reserve (65 thousand) were in demand.

High attendance during the New Year holidays was also in a number of other museums:
- Museum of the World Ocean (more than 50 thousand people);
- Russian Museum (more than 40 thousand people);
- Pushkin Museum im. A.S. Pushkin and the Novgorod Museum-Reserve (almost 40 thousand people).
Olga Lyubimova also stressed that high attendance was recorded in Tula museums – they were visited by about 40 thousand people.
