In 2022, in Russia, borscht vegetables fell in retail prices more than others: cabbage (by 55.1%), potatoes (by 32.8%), beets (by 29.8%) and carrots (by 22.9%). The prices for buckwheat groats (by 7.5%) and chicken eggs (by 6.6%) also decreased significantly. Igor Karavaev, Chairman of the Presidium of the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT), told Izvestia about this. “The decline in prices for vegetables and buckwheat is due to a high harvest, and for chicken eggs – due to the strengthening of the ruble and the growth of domestic production. In January, this trend continued in annual terms,” he added.
