The port will extend the South-East breakwater, due to which its operational water area will expand, cargo turnover will increase, and the environmental situation will improve. Glavgosexpertiza of Russia issued a positive conclusion following the review of design estimates for the work.
“The project provides for many solutions to improve the efficiency of the port: expanding the operating water area and carrying out dredging will remove restrictions on the simultaneous placement of maximum design vessels at berths No. 1a, No. 1b, and reduce forced downtime. The cargo turnover of the berths will increase by 3.4 million tons of oil products – up to 12.4 million tons per year due to the optimization of auxiliary and main technological operations”, – said Alexander Rudakovskiy, chief expert of the project of the GEP Service for transport and hydraulic engineering facilities of the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
By carrying out dredging, expanding the water area towards the South Pier and creating a navigation line, navigational safety for ships at any time of the day and the safety of hydraulic structures in the port of Tuapse will be ensured. Among other things, this will reduce forced downtime at the berths, increase the efficiency of dispatching and the efficiency of the MPC. The total time of operations at berths No. 1a and No. 1b will be reduced by 5-7%.
Also, after the extension of the South-Eastern breakwater, the drifting of the water area of the berths of the port of Tuapse with solid and suspended effluents of the Tuapse River will decrease by 15%, the wave and environmental conditions will improve due to the redistribution of cargo traffic for the export of gasoline from the berths of the inner water area. The wave impact on the Southern barrier pier from the waves of the southern and southeastern directions will decrease by four times.
