By order of FKU Uprdor “Kaspiy”, in 2022, the overhaul of a 7-kilometer section of the entrance to Elista (from 129 to 137 km) near the village of Kirovsky in the Sarpinsky district, as well as a 4-kilometer section of the R-22 “Kaspiy” highway (from 1212 1216 km) in the Yustinsky district, passing through the village of Tsagan-Aman.
During the overhaul, the federal road builders arranged new pavement, a drainage system, repaired ramps and strengthened roadsides. At the same time, the carriageway of the entrance to Elista from the R-22 highway was expanded from two to four lanes with the separation of oncoming flows with a metal barrier fence. This made it possible to make travel on it safer, as well as to increase its throughput.
The top layer of the coating was made of strong and durable crushed-stone-mastic asphalt concrete, which provides high levels of adhesion of the vehicle wheels to the roadway. Also, to improve the orientation of road users, federal road workers installed road signs, signal posts, and applied markings with thermoplastic and cold plastic.
Also, eight sections of the roads R-22 “Kaspiy” (access to the city of Elista), R-215 Astrakhan-Makhachkala, R-216 Astrakhan-Stavropol with a total length of about 78 km were protected with wear layers. These are sections of R-22 from 122 to 129 km, from 158 to 165 km, from 165 to 172 km, from 205 to 210 km, located in the Sarpinsky and Ketchenerevsky districts near the villages of Sadovoe, Ketchenery, Kegulta at the entrance to Elista. Also, the road surface was restored on two sections of the R-216 highway in the Yashkulsky district near the village. Gashun and the village of Yashkul (from 226 to 231 km, from 241 to 259 km) and two sections of the R-215 highway in the Chernozemelsky and Lagansky (from 190 to 210 km, from 249 to 257 km) regions of the republic. These works made it possible to eliminate small cracks and voids, which were formed, among other things, due to high traffic loads, and to ensure the normative evenness of the coating.
In addition, federal road workers carried out scheduled preventive repairs on the bridges across the Kek-Buluk gully and across the Yashkul River, located on the 202nd and 275th km of the R-22 “Caspian” highway (access to the city of Elista). In particular, they eliminated the defects identified during the diagnostics of artificial structures, which made it possible to maintain them in a standard transport and operational condition.
