Specialists of the Blagodarnensky district department of the Rosselkhozcenter branch in the Stavropol Territory have begun a phytopathological examination of spring crop seeds for the 2023 harvest.
Pathogens that remain in the seed material can lead to significant yield losses, as well as a decrease in grain quality. Due to the possibility of damage to seeds by a complex of pathogens of various kinds of infections, phytopathological examination of seeds becomes an indispensable technique that makes it possible to control the state of the seed fund and competently solve protection issues.
When conducting a phytoexamination, the contamination of the seed material with diseases is determined, the presence of fungal and bacterial pathogens, their species composition and the degree of infection are established.
To date, 1154.04 tons of seed material have been received for research at the department of the Rosselkhozcenter branch in the Stavropol Territory, of which: peas – 547.64 tons, chickpeas – 554.4 tons, flax – 37 tons, mustard – 15 tons .
According to the results of the phyto-expertise, the farmers of the district will be given recommendations on seed dressing. Seed dressing is the most effective measure in the overall disease control system of any crop, it allows you to get a full and healthy stem – the main and decisive factor in the planned yield.
