Andrei Korobka, vice-governor of the region, spoke about the prospects for the development of the oilseeds industry.
– The production of rapeseed oil is developing at a good pace in the region. This product is competitive and in demand not only in Russia but also abroad. Thus, the volume of its deliveries to the markets of Asia, countries of Eastern and Western Europe increased 3 times over the past year. We are constantly increasing the area of rapeseed. 2023 is no exception. The winter wedge was increased from 82.3 thousand hectares to 87.5 thousand hectares. And in just the last three years, the sowing area has doubled, – said Andriy Korobka.
The crop is grown for edible oil, cosmetics, and as livestock feed. The great advantage of rapeseed is that it is an excellent predecessor in crop rotation, enriches the soil and winter wheat grows well after it.
In 2022, Kuban farmers set a historical record by harvesting more than 285,000 tons of winter rapeseed.
