As it turned out, many cases of infertility are caused not by physiological, but by psychological factors. Sometimes pregnancy cannot start due to severe stress. Reproductologist and reproductive psychologist Ksenia Kamalova noted that much attention should be paid to the mental state. An obstetrician-gynecologist, public health and health specialist, WHO expert Lyubov Erofeeva agrees with her.
According to doctors, 15% to 25% of infertility cases are caused by psychological causes.
“Along with medical reasons, they began to pay close attention to psychological factors that significantly affect conception,” Kamalova said.
Her colleague Erofeeva noted that many women have high levels of anxiety or other mental problems.
“It seems that in fertility clinics, psychologists do not remain without work, couples need psychological help, support and support. But "psychological infertility" is rare in isolation, usually it is a combination and overlay of a number of purely medical factors, ”says Erofeeva.
She pointed out that, on average, 8-15% of couples cannot conceive without medical help. And, unfortunately, over the past decades, women have begun to give birth later – the age of the first-born has moved closer to 27-28 years.
Previously, women were warned about the unexpected consequences of pregnancy.
