Reduced employees will receive severance pay
Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc. cut 12,000 employees. Sundar Pichai, CEO of the corporation, announced this in a corporate blog.
According to him, such a decision is due to the fact that the company’s “periods of sharp growth” are now in the past. The head of Alphabet and Google noted that the company was hiring employees “for a different economic reality.”
Employees who have been made redundant will be paid two monthly salaries, severance pay, as well as payments for accumulated vacation days. The company also promised to provide support in resolving migration and medical issues.
