January 24 at the site of the conference and exhibition “Road construction in Russia. Road-building machinery and equipment: import substitution, development prospects” between the Federal Road Agency and Siberian Generating Company LLC signed a memorandum of cooperation on the introduction of ash and slag materials into road construction.
The document was signed by the head of Rosavtodor Roman Novikov and the general director of OOO Siberian Generating Company Stepan Solzhenitsyn.
The memorandum is valid for five years (with the possibility of its extension) and is aimed at the implementation of pilot projects for the construction and reconstruction of roads using ash and slag materials. This implies both the formation of a unified technical policy regarding the use of such materials, as well as the improvement of the regulatory, technical and legal framework, the preparation of proposals to federal government bodies on the existing possibilities for their implementation.
Roman Novikov noted the importance of recycling resources in the road sector: “It is difficult to overestimate the relevance of this issue, and we have been paying great attention to it for several years. Now it is necessary to optimize this area of activity as much as possible. We have local experience in the use of ash and slag materials, and now we have every opportunity to move forward. This memorandum is a key confirmation of this.”
Ash and slag materials can be used in the reclamation of disturbed lands, the production of building materials (inert fillers), the formation of an intermediate insulating layer at landfills for solid municipal and industrial waste, and subject to the relevant requirements of the technical regulation of the Customs Union “Road Safety” and regulatory and technical documents – during the construction of an embankment of a subgrade of a highway.
A similar agreement on cooperation was signed between the Association of Producers and Consumers of Asphalt Concrete Mixes “R.O.S.ASFALT” and LLC “Siberian Generating Company”.
