In the Novoselitsky district department of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Rosselkhozcenter” in the Stavropol Territory, work began on determining the sowing qualities and phytoexamination of spring seeds.
Since the beginning of 2023, the department has received 263 tons of seed material for verification, of which: 173 tons of peas, 60 tons of spring oats, 30 tons of millet.
Based on the results of the research, the farmers of the district will be given recommendations on the development of sowing technology: seeding weight rate, the need for seed calibration, determining the optimal sowing time and maximum depth, the need and parameters for heating seeds, choosing a treater and its effective consumption rate.
Choosing the right dressing agent is an opportunity to prevent the development of the disease in the field and get friendly and healthy seedlings. It is recommended to treat only conditioned seed material that meets the requirements of GOST. In this case, it is necessary to use preparations included in the State Catalog of Pesticides and Agrochemicals approved for use on the territory of the Russian Federation in 2023.
Carrying out high-quality dressing of seeds, taking into account the results of phytoexamination, can significantly reduce crop losses. Practice has proven that dressing seed material in order to protect it from diseases and pests is one of the most rational and effective.
