Factories with a capacity of 7 million tons of ordinary coal per year each are provided as part of the Elga technological complex for coal processing. A positive conclusion on the design documentation and the results of engineering surveys of the facility was issued by the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
The Ministry of Economic Development predicts a significant increase in cargo traffic at the Eastern range by 2030. Separately, subject to the implementation of the second stage of measures for the development of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Baikal-Amur Mainline, the cargo flow of coal will increase, which will be sent to the Russian ports of the Far East. An additional 25 million tons can be provided by increasing production at Kuzbass and the Elginskoye coal deposit in Yakutia, where it is expected to produce 26 million tons of coal in 2023.
In June 2021, Glavgosexpertiza considered a project for the reconstruction of a seasonal enrichment plant at the coal complex of the Elginskoye deposit, the largest Russian project for the extraction and export of coking coal, in connection with the transfer of the plant to a year-round operation.
This design documentation provides for the construction of four identical two-section processing plants as part of the complex, where coal concentrate and middlings will be produced through the processing of primary raw materials of the 1st stage of the Elginsky open-pit mine. Also, within the framework of the project, auxiliary buildings and structures will be built, which will serve to ensure production.
“In principle, the technological scheme of the processing plants of the Elga deposit ensures the enrichment of ordinary coal from 0 mm, which allows us to avoid losses and ensure the maximum possible extraction of combustible mass into concentrate. In turn, the water-sludge scheme of the factories is built on the principle of a closed water cycle, which allows, firstly, to save natural resources as much as possible in terms of clean water consumption, and secondly, to avoid the discharge of polluted man-made waters into natural reservoirs”, – said Sergey Meshalkin, chief expert of the project of the GEP Service on production facilities of the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
As a result of the launch of enrichment plants at the Elginskoye deposit, coking coal of grades Zh and GZh will be processed. Now only coals of grade Zh are mined here.
The developer of the facility is Elgaugol LLC. The general designer is Coralina Engineering LLC.
