The changes will come into effect on March 1
The head of the State Duma Committee on Transport, Yevgeny Moskvichev, explained that the proposal to oblige to book the date and time of crossing the border for cars will only affect freight traffic.
He noted that the task of the initiative is to get rid of traffic jams, “which cost 10-15 kilometers.”
“Drivers see no water, no food, no toilets, nothing. And they have [водителей] there are families – wives, children, so we are eliminating this problem, ”he said.
The new border crossing procedure may come into force as early as March 1 for a period of one year.

Drivers will reserve the date and time on the platform of the state information system of electronic transportation documents, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Transport. The applicant will be able to choose any date and time in addition to slots already booked. Reservation can be refused only if the applicant has not provided the necessary documents and information.
According to Moskvichev, the system will not work along the entire border, but only at problematic checkpoints. Among these, the deputy named “Zabaikalsk” on the border with China, “Upper Lars” on the border with Georgia and “Yarag-Kazmalyar” on the border with Azerbaijan.
