The Glavgosexpertiza of Russia issued a positive opinion following the review of design estimates for the construction of a two-section building for the needs of the St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University in the Kirovsky district of the Northern capital.
Today is Student’s Day, or Tatyana’s Day. This time, special attention is riveted to him, since 2023 has been declared the Year of the Teacher and Mentor in Russia. The quality of interaction between teachers and schoolchildren and students, the conditions in which they meet for study and practice, determines how effectively both of them will be able to reveal their talents and potential. That is why Russia is actively developing the infrastructure of educational institutions and, in particular, building new administrative and production buildings for the needs of universities.
SPbGMTU, also known as “Korabelka”, grew out of the Department of Shipbuilding of the Polytechnic Institute, created in 1902 by the permission of Nicholas II. Today it is the only university in Russia that trains world-class marine engineers in the design, construction and technical operation of sea vessels, combat surface ships and submarines, weapons, ship power plants, instruments, technical equipment for the exploration and production of oil, gas and other minerals on the seabed.
The project documentation, according to which Glavgosexpertiza issued a positive opinion in December 2022, provides for the construction of an educational research and production building at SPbGMTU, where future engineers will be able to hone their skills in practice.
The designed building consists of two sections of different heights, one of which has a production function, and the other – an administrative one.
The production one-story part of the building is divided into three zones. The first one provides for the location of the research and production site of the Institute of Laser and Welding Technologies (ILIST), the second – the machining section, and the third – the workshop section of the training shipyard.
The research and production site of the Institute of Laser and Welding Technologies is intended for research, laboratory classes, educational and industrial practices and developments in the field of laser and hybrid laser-arc materials processing technologies.
“In the zone of the research and production site of the Institute of Laser and Welding Technologies “Korabelka”, students will work out the technologies of laser and laser-arc welding, master additive technologies, produce experimental samples of laser-arc complexes and control systems for technological complexes“, – said Alisher Kasimov, the chief expert of the project of the complex examination department of the Samara branch of the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia – the issuing expert on the object.
In the zone of the scientific and production area of mechanical processing, it is planned to conduct laboratory classes, educational and production practices related to the processes of processing materials in the development of equipment and products, as well as to provide the ILIST zone.
And, finally, the workshop area of the training shipyard is a site where, as part of student training, laboratory classes, training and production practices related to the design and manufacture of experimental and head small-sized ships, including unmanned and test models from metallic and non-metallic structural materials and their elements for scientific and educational purposes.
The general designer of the facility is Scientific and Production Association “Science-Construction” LLC.
