Deputy Minister of Agriculture Andrey Razin spoke about the results of work to increase the production of fruit and berry products and measures of state support for farmers at a meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Food Policy and Environmental Management of the Federation Council.
Last year, Russia received a record harvest of fruits and berries – more than 1.5 million tons in the organized sector. At the same time, since 2013, the volume in the commodity sector has grown by 2.3 times. During this period, about 140 thousand hectares of perennial fruit and berry plantations were planted in the country, including nurseries, of which 66% are intensive gardens. In addition, the production of planting material increased significantly, in 2022 the figure amounted to 37 million pieces, which is 18.6% higher than the average level for the previous three years.
Gardeners increasingly prefer domestic seedlings, last year their market share was 74%.
In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to amend the rules of the “stimulating” subsidy, which will allow providing support for the establishment and care of perennial plantations of pome and stone fruit crops, provided that Russian-made planting material is used.
In recent years, the volume of state support for the sub-sector within the framework of the “stimulating” subsidy has amounted to about 5 billion rubles annually. This year, funding has increased almost 1.5 times to 7.33 billion rubles.
It is expected that by 2027 about 2 million tons of fruit and berry products will be produced, and by 2030 the figure will exceed 2.4 million tons.
