As part of a working trip to the municipality, the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev, together with scientists, visited the demonstration fields of the Pobeda agricultural company-breeding farm in the Kanevsky District. Deputy Andrei Korobka, head of the department of selection and seed production of wheat and triticale of the National Grain Center named after P.P. Lukyanenko Lyudmila Bespalova, as well as Professor of the Department of General and Irrigated Agriculture of KubGAU Valentina Vasilko.
According to Veniamin Kondratiev, a record harvest in 2023 can only be achieved in close cooperation with plant breeders.
– The district has a high culture of agriculture and traditionally good results. In general, almost 1.8 million hectares of winter crops were sown in the region for the 2023 harvest. Of these, 1.6 million hectares are occupied by wheat – and varieties of domestic selection. This is the work of farmers and Kuban scientists, our pride and the guarantee of new records, as the President noted in his message to the Federal Assembly. Only thanks to joint efforts will we be able to preserve and increase our regional loaf, – said Veniamin Kondratiev.
More than 10.5 thousand hectares are sown on the farm with winter crops – more than half of the total sown area. Cleaning is scheduled to begin at the end of June.
Representatives of the scientific community voiced their forecasts for the harvest. According to Valentina Vasilko, the use of domestic technologies and seeds make it possible to hope for a fruitful year. This opinion is shared by Lyudmila Bespalova.
– We see excellent wheat in the field – perfect sowing in straightness, uniformity. Made the first stage of feeding. Winter crops are in excellent condition, the plants are strong, they overwintered well. Harvest forecasts are good. Now it is important to do the second top dressing correctly and on time,” said Lyudmila Bespalova.
