In the US state of Tennessee, residents of Lincoln County complained about the spread of the fungus Baudoinia compniacensis, reports The Independent.
Black mold, or the so-called “whiskey fungus”, appears in houses, plants and even cars. Citizens believe it is caused by ethanol fumes from Jack Daniel’s whiskey vaults. She uses Baudoinia compniacensis to make a drink.
Patrick and Christy Long, who live near the vaults, are suing the county. According to Patrick, his wife suffers from breathing problems, and one of the neighbors has cancer. In this regard, local residents made two demands – to install an air filtration system to block ethanol emissions and limit the growth of fungi, and to investigate the impact of storage facilities on the environment and their potential health hazards.
