In February, the Regional Center for State Expertise and Pricing in the Construction of the Penza Region issued a positive opinion following the review of documentation for the overhaul of a federal cultural heritage site – the building of the Penza Gymnasium, where Vissarion Belinsky once studied.
Belinsky is called the greatest representative of all Russian criticism of the 19th century. It is he who is considered the true creator of Russian literary critical thought. And one of the oldest educational institutions in Russia is named after him – the Classical Gymnasium No. 1, founded in Penza in 1786, where the future publicist studied in 1825-1829. At that time it was the Men’s Gymnasium of the city of Penza.
In addition, from 1821 to 1824, the director of the gymnasium, as well as the director of schools in the Penza province, was the writer Ivan Lazhechnikov, one of the founders of the Russian historical novel. As a result, to this day, the educational institution is inextricably linked with literature and is actively testing a student-centered approach to education.
The documentation, according to which a positive conclusion of the regional state examination was issued, provides for a major overhaul of the gymnasium building, which is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. Among other things, the work will affect the facade of the building from the back, which is in need of renovation for a long time.*
The developer of the object is the State Budgetary Institution of Culture “Association of State Literary and Memorial Museums of the Penza Region”. General designer – L.M. Hodos”.
