The Glavgosexpertiza of Russia issued a positive conclusion following the review of design estimates for the adaptation of premises for a choreographic school in a historic building on 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya.
The Igor Moiseev Folk Dance Ensemble was created by the famous choreographer and choreographer in 1937. This is the first professional choreographic group in the world, which is engaged in the artistic interpretation and popularization of the dance folklore of the peoples of the world. In 1943, a school-studio (school) was opened at the ensemble, whose graduates still form the core of the team.
For the last 10 years, the school has occupied premises in the building of the P.I. Tchaikovsky on Tverskaya street. As part of the instructions of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin from 2019 “Creating conditions for improving the quality of educational services, preserving the traditions of the unique Moiseev dance school, maintaining the interest of the younger generation in folk dance, national culture and creativity, and their development in Russia and abroad”, the school was decided allocate a separate six-story building on 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya. Glavgosexpertiza considered design solutions for the reconstruction and adaptation for modern use of non-residential premises with an area of 7,221.5 sq. m.
“A building built in 1917, where the People’s Commissariat of Arms was located in 1938-1940, will be used as a studio-school. Its façade is part of the front ensemble of 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street and is of architectural and historical significance. In addition, this is the territory of the cultural layer of the Tverskaya-Yamskaya Sloboda of the late 16th – early 18th centuries and Kamer-Kollezhsky Val of the 18th century. All this was taken into account in the development and examination of design solutions”, – said the experts of Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
The building of the choreographic school will be equipped with a sports hall for rhythmic gymnastics, a conference hall, classrooms for foreign languages, chemistry, programming, music theory, general education and other disciplines, video and sound recording rooms, a library with a reading room and a book depository, a media library, a dressing room , wardrobe, administrative, auxiliary and other premises.
