Former French international Juste Fontaine has died at the age of 89. It is reported by L’Equipe.

Fontaine scored 13 goals at the 1958 World Cup – a record for the most goals in one world championship.
He played for the French national team from 1953 to 1960. In total, the footballer scored 30 goals in 21 matches for the national team. At the 1958 World Championships, he won bronze medals with the team.

Fontaine also played for the Moroccan club Casablanca, as well as the French Nice and Reims. Together with the last club, the football player became the champion of France four times and twice the owner of the country’s Cup. In 2013, the former football player of the French national team was awarded the highest state award – the Order of the Legion of Honor.
