The incident became known on the morning of March 2
President Vladimir Putin called the attack in the Bryansk region a terrorist act. The announcement was made at the opening of the Year of the Teacher, in which the Russian leader participated via video link.
“They entered the border area and opened fire on civilians. We saw that it was a civilian car, we saw that civilians and children were sitting there. They opened fire on them,” the President stressed.
On the morning of March 2, the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, announced the incident. According to him, Ukrainian saboteurs entered the region. In the village of Lubechane, they fired at a moving car, as a result of which a local resident was killed and a ten-year-old child was wounded. The village of Sushany at that moment was attacked by a drone.
The injured child was hospitalized, nothing threatens his life, Bogomaz said. He later stated that another person was killed in the attack – a man born in 1966.

The incident was also commented on by the Federal Security Service. They reported that employees of the department and the forces of the Ministry of Defense are working to “destroy Ukrainian nationalists” in the Klimovsky district of the Bryansk region.
