According to the agency, the company made a corresponding request to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at the beginning of 2022.
The main concerns of the regulator are related to the safety of the device’s lithium battery, the possible migration of the device’s microwires to other areas of the brain, and the possibility of removing the chip without damaging the organ.

Despite the FDA decision, Neuralink continues to refine its technology. According to the interlocutors of the agency, in the near future it will not be possible to obtain the approval of the regulator.
However, in November 2022, the head of the company, Elon Musk, said that Neuralink was preparing to conduct human trials of the chip. According to him, the tests should begin in the spring. At the same time, the businessman said that most of the documents that are necessary for FDA approval are already ready.
