The fast food chain “Vkusno – and that’s it” has added an analogue of “Big Mac” to the menu. “Snob” tells how the perfect name was chosen for the burger and what makes the Russian “Big Hit” unique

For analogue of “Big Mac” developed a new composition of the sauce
On February 27, an analogue of the Big Mac burger from McDonald’s, which was called Big Hit, appeared in Tasty – and that’s it. The fast food chain said that it does not differ in taste from the original: the recipe has been developed since the fall of 2022.
Big Hit, like the original burger, consists of beef patties, cheese, pickles, lettuce and onions. Buns began to be sprinkled with white and black sesame seeds (before that, only white was added). Oleg Paroev, General Director of the network, said that a sauce was developed for Big Hit from scratch, which is made from new ingredients and tastes similar to Big Mac sauce.
The network “Vkusno – and that’s it” opened on June 12, 2022. The restaurants were created on the site of McDonald’s fast food, which left the Russian market in March of the same year.

The name “Big Mac” has changed several times.
The Big Mac was first made in Pennsylvania (a state in the northeastern United States) in 1967. Entrepreneur Jim Delligatti, who ran several McDonald’s restaurants, decided to create a new burger to compete with the Big Boy sandwiches of the local chain of the same name.
A feature of the new burger was the third, medium, bun, which did not allow the sandwich to fall apart and absorbed the meat juice from the cutlets. The novelty was liked by visitors to McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, so a year later the burger began to be sold in chain restaurants across the country.

Delligatti gave the name Aristocrat to the burger, but it was soon changed to Blue Ribbon Burger, that is, a “burger with a blue ribbon”, which denotes premium quality and quality. The final name “Big Mac” was given by Esther Glickstein Rose, secretary from the advertising department of McDonald’s.
In the world you can find other versions of the popular burger: in India, for example, in Big Mac, beef was replaced with lamb, since the cow in this country is considered a sacred animal. In Israel, they offer a kosher version – without cheese, bacon and tomato. And in Japan in the 2000s they sold a Big Mac with an egg instead of a cutlet.
“Big Mac” began to study economists
The Economist magazine began calculating the Big Mac index in 1986: experts compared burger prices in different countries and drew conclusions about the value of national currencies and purchasing power. The burger was taken as the “ideal” because it can be found anywhere in the world (the Big Mac is sold in more than 100 countries), and the composition of the burger, as a rule, does not change.
So, in the USA, a Big Mac costs about $5.36 (about 400 rubles at the current exchange rate), a Russian Big Hit costs 165 rubles.
