56-year-old Belgian Geneviève Lhermitte, who killed her five children, was euthanized at her own request. The procedure was carried out 16 years after the murders, writes Sky News.
The incident occurred on February 28, 2007 in the city of Nivelles. Lhermitte stabbed to death her son and four daughters, who were between three and 14 years old. Immediately after that, she tried to commit suicide, but the attempt was unsuccessful.

In 2008, Lhermitte was sentenced to life imprisonment. Later, the woman decided to seek euthanasia. In Belgium, the law gives such a right to people who are experiencing unbearable psychological or physical suffering, from which it is impossible to get rid of.
