At the end of 2022, 46.1 billion food eggs were released in Russia. Compared to 2021, the volume of production of this product in the country increased by 1.2 billion, said Vladimir Fisinin, President of the Russian Poultry Union (Rosptitsesoyuz), speaking at the International Scientific and Practical Conference of Veterinary Doctors of Poultry Farms of the Russian Federation and the CIS. The conference was organized by the Federal Center for Animal Health (FGBU “ARRIAH” of Rosselkhoznadzor).
“We haven’t had that kind of growth in a long time. At the same time, 82% of this volume was produced by agricultural enterprises and 18% by private household plots and farms,” said Vladimir Fisinin.
The country’s self-sufficiency in food eggs is currently estimated at 99.6%.
Domestic consumption of this product averages 295 eggs per person per year. At the same time, an average of 320 eggs per person are produced in the country, he added.
More than a third of the market (41%) is provided by 16 largest poultry farms with production volumes of over 500 million eggs per year. Another 71 poultry farms annually produce from 100 to 500 million eggs. 76 enterprises with production volumes of less than 100 million provide another 10% of the market. “Thus, 163 poultry farms provide us with all the well-being in the egg industry,” said Vladimir Fisinin.
