The Russian Federation has already exported 40 million tons of grain since the beginning of the current agricultural year (from July 1, 2022). “Today, the export of Russian grain is already 40 million tons. We understand that despite all the sanctions, our agrarian, our peasant is competitive at the global level,” said Roman Nekrasov, Director of the Crop Production Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, at a meeting of the final board of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan in Kazan, writes finmarket.ru. “We will certainly sell the remains of agricultural products that were obtained in 2022. Our products are expected in many parts of the world. Our global mission today is to fight hunger, ensure food supplies around the world, and most importantly, have a stable, long-term and sustainable income from this, ”Nekrasov said.
As reported, according to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, grain exports in the current agricultural year (July 2022-June 2023) can reach up to 60 million tons. From February 15 to June 30, an export quota of 25.5 million tons is in effect. At the same time, the head of the department drew attention to the need for effective preparation for spring sowing. “We understand that we did not succeed in preparing the land for spring qualitatively, or it turned out on a significantly smaller area than usual. This suggests that very quick decisions will need to be made in the spring,” he said. One of the tasks he called the preservation of moisture in the soil. “The amount of precipitation that fell during the winter is significantly less than the norm. Therefore, despite the record water recharge in the fall, measures must be taken to ensure that moisture remains in the fields, and does not flow into ravines, to lose its suitability for crop formation, ”Nekrasov said.
As reported, the Ministry of Agriculture this year expects to harvest 125-127 million tons, including 80-85 million tons of wheat. In 2022, according to preliminary data from Rosstat, 153.8 million tons were harvested, including 104.4 million tons of wheat.
