This year, more than 402 million rubles from the budget will be allocated for the development of hydromelioration in the Tambov region. Of these, more than 392 million rubles are federal budget funds. This is 6 times higher than last year’s subsidies for this area (in 2022 – 63.5 million rubles). The subsidies will be used to build irrigation systems in the fields where vegetables, potatoes, corn, soybeans, and sugar beets are grown. “Hydroamelioration helps to increase crop yields. Therefore, work to improve soil fertility, including through a complex of reclamation measures, should be carried out more dynamically. With an increase in soil fertility, crop yields will also increase. Consequently, the contribution of the Tambov region to food security will be greater,” says Head of the region Maxim Egorov.
