In general, Russians do not have such a dominance of parasites in the body, as many people think, however, there are certain regions and methods of infection that help helminths spread. Therefore, the specialist told how you can pick up a parasite, by what signs to calculate it, and then how to remove it.
Where do parasites come from?
According to the doctor of medical sciences, parasitologist Yevgeny Morozov, most often Russians encounter helminths in raw fish and meat, so in areas where they are eaten because of some traditions, the risk of infection is higher. For example, fish parasites are not uncommon in the eastern regions of Russia, in the Ob-Irtysh basin.
With the help of sushi and sashimi, it is more difficult to get infected – they use artificially bred fish. But fans of medium and tartare steaks should be more careful, as well as lovers of stroganina. It contains either the longest and most harmless parasite or the most dangerous.
Poor hygiene also contributes to helminth infection. This usually applies to rural areas where there is no sewage system, and feces, along with parasite eggs, fall into the ground, and then onto fruits, berries and vegetables. They are often not washed – their own, so they become infected for the first time or again.
The most common human parasites
In Russia, the most common intestinal helminths are pinworms and roundworms. In other regions, the statistics are different – malaria is the leader there, from which 60-70 people die every hour in the world. But it has not been in Russia for seven years now, isolated cases are imported.
What parasites are the most dangerous
According to Professor Morozov, there are no harmless parasites at all, because each case can be potentially lethal. From visceral leishmaniasis, all those infected who have not received treatment die.
Alveococcosis without drugs also leads to death, and even with them the quality of life is not up to par, because the treatment is very similar to chemotherapy and it will continue until the end of days.
Yes, even such popular roundworms can cling to a ball and cause intestinal obstruction, which cannot be solved without a surgeon. And if it is not nearby (for example, in a rural area), then that’s the point – a pipe.
Parasite prevention
There are no sure ways to protect yourself from parasites – you just need to monitor your diet and carefully process all foods and kitchen surfaces, and even more often remember hygiene and not indulge in exotic dishes.
There are no pills for the prevention of parasites either, there are various anthelminths, but they have a strong impact on health, and they are categorically not recommended to be taken just in case, even for animals.
How to detect a parasite in the body?
Each type of helminth has its own set of symptoms, but they are often very general. For example, constant fatigue, apathy and drowsiness, allergies, sagging immunity. If the parasite is wound up in the intestines, then diarrhea, constipation, swelling and other malfunctions in the gastrointestinal tract can begin. You can’t find out exactly on your own here – you need to consult a doctor in case of any doubt, he will tell you based on the results of the tests (feces, CT, MRI and antibodies to parasites).
How to treat parasites?
If it was not possible to dodge the bullet, then you need to be treated exclusively with a doctor. He will prescribe a course of drugs that will eventually help, or send him for surgery if the case is severe. But in no case should you self-medicate or remember folk methods. At best, they will not help in any way and will simply waste the time that is important for treatment, and at worst, they will also harm an already weakened body.
Is it possible to cure all parasites
Not really. Some cases are difficult to detect due to their simple and common symptoms. For example, malaria looks like a common cold. If the diagnosis is correct, then the patient can be safely cured, but if not, then death is not far off. Of the helminths, the most disgusting echinococci – they form cysts that need to be cut out. But it happens that because of the size, not all of them are found or they cannot be operated on, so the treatment is delayed.
Separately, it is worth talking about dirofilaria, which are easier to detect if they are under the skin. In this place, itching and allergies may appear, you can sometimes even feel some kind of movement. Residents of the southern regions and Russians who have returned from vacation in hot countries should especially listen to themselves.
