The official awards ceremony will take place in Athens in May
British architect David Chipperfield has won the Pritzker Prize in architecture. The jury noted the architect’s commitment to a restrained style. This is stated on the website of the architectural bureau David Chipperfield Architects. The official award ceremony will take place in Athens in May.
Chipperfield founded David Chipperfield Architects in London in 1984. Before that, he collaborated with such famous architects as Norman Foster, Richard Rogers and Douglas Stephen. Chipperfield’s portfolio includes more than 100 projects.

The Pritzker Prize was established in 1979 by the Pritzker family, one of the richest families in the United States that was involved in business and charity. Among the award winners were Philip Johnson, Louis Barragan, James Stirling, Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando, Norman Foster, Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid and others.
In 2022, Diebédo Francis Queré, an African from Burkina Faso, was the first black architect to receive the award.
