The project, announced by Igor Matvienko’s production center, became one of the winners of the first grant competition in 2023 of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. In the title role they see the singer Yaroslav Dronov (pseudonym Shaman). The authors of the idea believe that the opera will strengthen the patriotism of Russians.
The size of the grant is quite big – 28.7 rubles, but the money will go to a good cause. The authors of the delivery assured that the delivery would be a triumph of “Russianness”. The opera is going to be staged in the Crimean Sudak.
How can opera raise patriotism?
The applicants explained that the story of the reign of Prince Vladimir would help to strengthen the traditional spiritual and moral values of the country. Still, it was under him that the Baptism of Rus’ took place.
It is planned to show first life before the adoption of Christianity, full of negative actions from the point of view of morality, and life after – in a completely different way.
Why is this needed?
The authors of the project noticed that one of the urgent problems of modern Russia is ignorance of its own history. All because of the “dominance of Western music” and the lack of ethno-folk music, they say. And young people are less and less interested in opera as a genre. A rock opera with a historical theme should solve all these problems.
Directors also complain that there are almost no patriotic and historical projects in the country that speak a modern, accessible language.
Patriotism will be raised with the help of songs. Musician Oleg Gazmanov was even previously allocated 17 million for these purposes. True, they will not go to him, but to revive love for the motherland.
