In the Sovetsky district of the Stavropol Territory, the first stage of the greenhouse complex for the production of fruits and vegetables of protected ground LLC SHP “Kavkaz” is put into operation. The construction of greenhouse capacities on an area of 41 hectares will make it possible to supply the population of the region with domestically produced vegetables all year round.
On the territory of the first stage of the complex, various types of tomatoes will be planted: plum, cherry, cocktail and others. Every year, the first phase of LLC SHP “Kavkaz” plans to grow up to 15 thousand tons of vegetable products in protected ground.
Vegetable growing is one of the strengths of the agro-industrial complex of the Stavropol Territory. In 2022 alone, the share of greenhouse vegetable production amounted to 43% of the total vegetable production in the region. Every year, the area of greenhouses increases due to the implementation of new investment projects.
In the future, the second stage of the project, the work has already begun, they are planned to be completed by 2025. The total area of the two new greenhouses will be more than 60 hectares. With the completion of the projects, the greenhouse complex will provide the Stavropol region with more than 23 thousand tons of tomatoes annually.
To date, there are 11 greenhouse complexes operating in the region with a total area of about 232 hectares. The main relics are concentrated in the Predgorny, Izobilnensky, Kirov, Andropov districts.
The development of greenhouse production in the region, increasing the competitiveness of greenhouse vegetable growing and the financial stability of the region are among the priority tasks set by the Governor of the Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirov.
– The structure of state support for agricultural producers as part of the implementation of the state program of the Stavropol Territory “Development of Agriculture” includes a number of new measures, among which our greenhouse farms are of particular interest in the subsidy for the production of protected ground vegetables produced using additional lighting technology. For these purposes, this year, 58 million rubles are provided from two levels of the budget, which is 2.8 times higher than the level of the previous year, the funds have been fully transferred to agricultural producers, – said Sergey Izmalkov, Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory
