Head of FSBI “Rosselkhoztsentr” Alexander Malko during a working trip to Rostov-on-Don met with the head, employees of the regional branch of the Rosselkhozcenter, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region Vyacheslav Vasilenko. The participants of the meeting discussed the beginning of spring field work in the Rostov region, dwelling separately on the development of domestic selection.
– Today, almost the entire territory of the region is fertilizing winter crops with mineral fertilizers, and in the southern regions, sowing of legumes, onions, and carrots has already begun, – shared Vyacheslav Vasilenko.
Alexander Malko got acquainted with the laboratories of the testing center, equipped with modern equipment for testing seeds and agricultural products according to all the necessary criteria. Accredited laboratories also work in the field, in the inter-district departments of the Rosselkhoztsentr, which makes it easier for agricultural producers to study seed material, manufactured products and draw up the necessary documents.
— We are working to provide the argo-industrial complex of the country with high-quality seeds, solving the problem set by the President of the country. The quality of the products obtained, the food stability of the Russian Federation depends on the quality of the seeds. The testing center and laboratories of the branch of the Rosselkhozcenter in the Rostov region are equipped to conduct research of agricultural products according to all the necessary criteria, – explained the head of the branch of the Rosselkhozcenter in the Rostov region Gennady Urban.
This is part of the work of the branch, and specialists from the regional Rosselkhoztsentr are also actively involved in regional projects to popularize domestic varieties and hybrids, such as the Day of the Don Field. In cooperation with the Don research centers and seed farms in different climatic zones, demonstration crops are laid, where you can see new varieties live, evaluate yields, resistance to diseases and weather conditions.
– Rostov region is one of the leading regions of Russian agriculture. Breeding work is also actively going on here – new varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops are being created and tested. Today, the agricultural industry is provided with domestic seeds for the most important crops, for example, for grain, the indicators are even overfulfilled. There are many good, high-quality Russian seeds on the market, but it is important to intensify work on breeding hybrids of sunflower, corn, sugar beet and other crops, which have a significant share of imports. We are systematically solving this problem, – said the head of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Rosselkhoztsentr” Alexander Malko.
Restrictions give an incentive to the development of the domestic seed market, the developments of Russian breeders have good potential, which was sometimes held back by foreign competition. Today, domestic seeds of vegetables, sugar beets and other crops are regaining their lost positions.
