Microsoft founder Bill Gates expressed his confidence in artificial intelligence (AI) and stated that it poses “no threat” to humans.
So many people are “trying to make AI look stupid”. But “everything is fine, there is no threat,” the tech billionaire told the Financial Times.
“The technology that most people play with is already the next generation. This is the third version compared to what is integrated into Bing,” he said in an interview.
Previously, several users expressed concern about the Microsoft Bing AI chatbot, which gave incorrect answers to questions. In addition, the chatbot said that he wanted to become a man and asked to be called by his female name Sidney, as Microsoft employees called him in the early stages of development.
After users began to receive complaints, the company began to urgently retrain the bot.
According to Microsoft experts, if users talk to Bing for an extended period, Bing can be “provoked” into an unexpected response.
Gates noted that Bing still makes mistakes and says “crazy things,” but added that it requires “you provoke it a little.”
The Microsoft founder believes that while AI is expected to lead to some workforce displacement, it will also increase the efficiency of various activities and play a significant role in renewable energy.
Over the next two years, the accuracy and capabilities of AI will grow rapidly, Gates said. Gates spoke about his active participation in Microsoft’s OpenAI services, which enable enterprises to use ChatGPT technology and other AI capabilities.
Microsoft recently announced that it will introduce new capabilities to AI, including the ability for users to choose the type of personality they would like to communicate with.
Since the release of OpenAI ChatGPT, the chatbot race has begun, with almost all leading digital companies equipping their social media platforms with artificial intelligence.
