This is a section from km 262 to km 270, which began to be expanded from two to four lanes in 2021. To date, these works have been completed by 90%.
Specialists renovated the road surface, the top layer of which was made of crushed-stone-mastic asphalt concrete, replaced 11 culverts, and equipped a surface drainage system. For the convenience of drivers, a rest area was equipped, intersections and junctions were repaired, two two-way reversal loops were built, excluding unsafe left turns. For residents of Rogachevka and the village of Medicinal are also arranged eight bus stops, footpaths, ground pedestrian crossings with LED signs and traffic lights, markings are applied. Arrangement works are being completed: a barrier fence, electric lighting poles and road signs are partially installed.
After the overhaul, the section of the road will meet the parameters of category II, the number of lanes will increase to four, and the width of the carriageway will be 14 meters, which will double the capacity and ensure a high level of road safety. To prevent the risk of head-on collisions – the most dangerous type of accident – oncoming traffic flows will be separated by an axial barrier fence.
The overhaul of the road section is scheduled to be completed in September this year. However, the road builders are doing everything possible to hand over the object ahead of schedule – the work here is being carried out ahead of schedule.
In addition, in November, a bridge across the Tokai River at the 365th km of the R-298 Kursk-Voronezh highway in the Anninsky district will be put into operation. Here, the arrangement of supports was made, beams of superstructures were mounted. The bridge workers will also have to strengthen the slopes of the cones, arrange a new roadbed, stairways, and organize a system of treatment facilities.
