An elderly resident of Nakhodka became a victim of scammers who managed to pretend to be her cousin. And everything is simple: the scammers successfully guessed that a relative of a 60-year-old woman is often on the road, so when she received an SMS from a foreign number, she believed that her brother was on the wire. In the text, the “relative” asked the woman to receive a package of money from him. But you had to pay a little.
The woman was promised that the costs would be compensated. At the same time, the victim did not even call her brother – she was sure that she was corresponding with him.
In order to receive a precious parcel, the pensioner took out loans from several banks and even sold her car. As a result, she gave the scammers about 3 million rubles. It was only after that that she became suspicious.
The Russian woman turned to the transport company with a track number to check the cargo. But she was informed that such a track does not exist. And only then the woman called her brother and found out that he had not sent any parcels to her.
The woman filed a complaint with the police. On this fact, a criminal case was opened. Fraudsters, if caught, face up to 10 years in prison.
And such episodes of deception are a dime a dozen. But there are those who no longer fall for fraudulent schemes. For example, a pensioner from Kostroma himself became a bait and helped the police to detain a criminal.
