A short video posted on YouTube causes crashes in Google Pixel series smartphones for an unknown reason, Reddit users discovered. When you try to watch the video, the devices spontaneously reboot or show problems with connecting to the cellular network, which are fixed, again, by rebooting.

The Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6A models are experiencing crashes when trying to open a video through the native YouTube app, community users have reported. However, the problem does not affect all devices: Android expert Mishaal Rahman (Mishaal Rahman) said that his copy of the Pixel 6 Pro regularly copes with the “cursed” video; similar statements were made by some other users of the resource.
The video itself (owners of potentially vulnerable devices are not recommended to follow the link from them) is nothing special – it is a three-minute fragment of the classic sci-fi tape “Alien” in 4K HDR format. The causes of the problem remain unclear, but it has been suggested that they are related to the way smartphones process color information, which also leads to a failure in displaying some wallpapers on Android phones.
