Millet production in Russia at the end of 2022 amounted to about 112 thousand tons – 15 thousand tons more than in 2021. This is the highest figure since 2000 – then the volume of output was at the level of 131 thousand tons, Irina Glazunova, deputy director general of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR), told Agroinvestor. According to the President of the Russian Union of Flour and Cereal Enterprises Igor Sviridenko, millet in our country is one of the four main cereals along with buckwheat, rice and oatmeal. At the same time, attention to millet is insufficient, as a rule, it is sown only for crop rotation, the expert noted. Cultivated areas differ from year to year, which leads to the fact that prices for raw materials and finished products can vary by a factor of two.
