Russia will improve the procedure for conducting control and supervisory activities in relation to pesticides and agrochemicals imported into the Russian Federation from foreign countries. The relevant law passed the third reading during the plenary session of the State Duma on March 15, the Parliamentary Newspaper reports.
According to Mikhail Romanov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Control Committee, the initiative amends the legislation “On the Safe Handling of Pesticides and Agrochemicals” in terms of securing the possibility of state supervision at temporary storage warehouses, the list of which will be determined by Rosselkhoznadzor, in agreement with the Federal Customs Service.
“The transfer of control to temporary storage warehouses will optimize the conduct of control measures and unload checkpoints at the border due to checks within the country, and will also contribute to the fight against counterfeit goods,” Romanov specified.
When preparing a list of storage facilities, Rosselkhoznadzor will take into account technological capabilities.
Also, the Government of the Russian Federation is vested with the right to establish the competence of federal executive bodies for supervision at specialized border crossing points.
