The governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, told reporters about this.
“Annual tests by bad weather – hail, drought or flooding – have shown farmers the need to protect their crops. At the end of last year, the area of insured farmland quadrupled from 159,000 to 630,000 hectares. For our part, we subsidize the cost of this mechanism to farmers from the regional budget. In 2023, we will allocate over 460 million rubles for these purposes,” said Veniamin Kondratiev.
In 2022, grain insurance was the most demanded among farmers; they protected crops on an area of more than 515,000 hectares. Another 32.8 thousand hectares – oilseeds, 15.4 thousand hectares of technical, 6.5 thousand hectares of legumes, 4.2 thousand hectares of orchards and vineyards, 3.4 thousand hectares of vegetables.
Today, the agricultural insurance program protects against most natural emergencies. These include frost, black ice, freezing, hail, lightning, fire (except forest), storm, hurricane, downpour, flood, drought or dehydration, as well as the reproduction of plant pests.
