The Glavgosexpertiza of Russia issued a positive conclusion following the review of design and estimate documentation for the creation in the city of the Spiritual and Educational Center “Korchev” (the old Russian name for Kerch of the 9th-11th centuries), where rectors of the parishes of the Orthodox Church will be trained.
In 2022, Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin No. 809 was issued on the approval of the Fundamentals of State Policy for the Preservation and Strengthening of Traditional Russian Spiritual and Moral Values. A special role in the document is given to Orthodoxy as the fundamental religion of Russia. The dissemination of the ideas of the Orthodox Church is one of the important humanitarian and educational initiatives, as well as the creation of new points of attraction in different regions of the country for the unification and enlightenment of Orthodox believers.
So, in Kerch on Dmitry Donskoy Street, next to the church of St. Luke, the Korchev Spiritual and Educational Center will be built, where it is planned to implement educational programs on the basics of spiritual and moral culture. Together with public and educational organizations, the educational institution will carry out activities in the matter of upbringing and education in the spirit of the traditional values of the national culture, the historical foundation of which is Orthodoxy.
According to the design documentation reviewed by the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia, a church shop, a library will be equipped on the first floor of the three-story building, a sacristy, a house church, an ancient repository on the second floor, and a conference room, guest rooms and other premises on the third. The center provides for the construction of auxiliary buildings and structures, including a boiler house, sewerage and fire pumping stations, fire tanks and others.
“In the ancient repository of the spiritual and educational center “Korchev” will be stored items and books historically associated with the activities of religious and public representatives of society, with significant events in the spiritual and cultural life of the peoples of Crimea”– said the experts of Glavgosexpertiza.
After the facility is put into operation, it will be handed over to the Feodosia Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, which unites parishes and monasteries in the eastern part of the Republic of Crimea.
