It is possible to maintain the airworthiness of aircraft available in Russia for about 10 more years. This was announced by Minister of Transport Vitaly Savelyev at an expanded meeting of the State Duma Committee on Transport.
“The average age of the fleet of domestic and imported aircraft in stock is 15 years,” the minister specified. Within the allotted 10 years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will develop new aircraft models.

Savelyev stressed that Russian airlines do not dismantle aircraft for spare parts (cannibalization). All vessels operate in normal mode, they are provided with certified spare parts. In addition, the minister said, the government has allocated about 300 billion rubles to buy the planes of Russian airlines from foreign lessors.
