The Kremlin has not heard about the initiative of the Ministry of Finance to reduce budget transfers for the payment of maternity capital by 17%. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
Recall that earlier the media, referring to information from RBC, reported that the Ministry of Finance proposed to reduce the estimate of the future federal transfer, which is necessary for the Social Fund to pay maternity capital.
This measure is proposed to be extended to 2024-2026. The total reduction in transfers for these purposes is expected to reach 356 billion rubles. (17%). According to the interviewed experts, this is due to declining birth rates.
The Kremlin has already commented on this information, answering that they do not have official data on this matter.
– To be honest, I have not seen such a statement … To be honest, I don’t know, so I don’t know what to answer you. I don’t know what kind of information this is,” Peskov said, answering a question from journalists about whether this position of the ministry was agreed with the Kremlin and whether it would have a negative effect on the birth rate in the country.
Recall that maternity capital is one of the measures of state support for families with children. It was introduced in Russia in 2007 and has since become one of the most popular ways to improve living conditions for young families.
The face value of the maternity capital certificate for the first child is 586.9 thousand rubles, and for the second – almost 775.6 thousand rubles.
